What is Friendship?
True friendship is formed in a branch of what love is. Creating a true friendship requires respect, which means knowing how to appreciate and listen to others, willpower, breaking those chains that cause isolation, and work and investment that tells us to: "allow yourself a space to know more and learn more about the other."
"FUN FACT"
A special feature of friendship is that both people feel comfortable in the same places and can talk about themselves easily. Moreover, true friendship also allows us to maintain our authenticity, since a true friend will accept you as you are, authentic; they may correct/advise you at some point, and that is not bad, but they will not try to change your personality or encourage you to do bad things.
On the other hand, friendship is linked to mature love, which is not limited to relationships or dating, but rather to the love that is willing to do something for others, in other words, helping others... this type of love manifests itself in selfless actions and constant support, without expecting anything in return.
The Power of Friendship (History)
My friend Juan. We met in college and have shared countless moments together ever since. I remember one time when I was going through a very difficult time in my personal life. Juan, without hesitation, dropped everything he was doing to come see me and offer his support. We spent hours talking, and his presence and words of encouragement helped me get through that time. He never judged me or tried to change me; he was simply there for me, proving that true friendship is based on love and mutual respect. Since that day, our friendship grew even stronger.
We have traveled together, explored new places, and faced challenges that seemed insurmountable. Whenever I need advice or just someone to talk to, I know I can count on Juan. His wisdom and empathy are invaluable, and he always knows how to make me laugh in the darkest of times.
One of our most memorable adventures was when we decided to take a road trip with no fixed destination. Just us, the car and the road ahead. I remember how we sang our favorite songs at full volume, stopping in small towns to try typical dishes and meet new people. It was a liberating experience that taught us a lot about the importance of living in the present and enjoying the little things.
Over the years, I have learned that it is not easy to find friendships as genuine and lasting as the one I have with Juan. He is more than a friend; he is like a brother to me. And even though our lives have taken different professional and personal paths, we always find time to reconnect and keep that spark that unites us alive.
What does creating friendships offer us?
True friendship is a refuge in times of trouble and a source of joy in times of happiness. It is a bond that grows stronger over time and through shared experiences, creating indelible memories and deep mutual understanding. In friendship, we find a safe space where we can be ourselves, without masks or pretenses, and where our virtues and flaws are accepted with love and understanding.
Open and Honest Communication: Talk to your friend openly and honestly. Communication is key to resolving misunderstandings and strengthening the relationship. Don't be afraid to express your feelings and thoughts.
Mutual Respect: Value and respect your friend's opinions, decisions, and personal space. Respect is essential to any long-lasting, healthy relationship.
Unconditional Support: Being there in good times and bad is essential. A true friend offers emotional and practical support without expecting anything in return.
Authenticity: Be yourself and allow your friend to be authentic too. True friendship is based on mutual acceptance, without trying to change the other person.
Quality Time: Take time to share experiences and create memories together. Shared activities strengthen the bond and allow you to get to know each other better.
CONCLUSION
In short, true friendship is an invaluable treasure that enriches our lives, provides us with emotional support and helps us grow as people. It is a relationship based on respect, authenticity and mature love, which allows us to be better versions of ourselves and inspires us to be more generous and compassionate towards others.
